350 Acre Grass Fire Burns Along Baseline

Courtesy Metro Fire on Twitter

At 10 pm last night, Metro Fire, Placer Fire, Roseville Fire and CalFire units responded to a large grass fire in Elverta near the northwest corner of Gibson Ranch near Kasser Road.

The fire began at Kasser Road and Tan Woods Road and spread north to Baseline Road, pushed along by gusty winds. Response quickly grew to three alarms.

Placer County Sheriff and CHP closed Baseline Road between Brewer and Fiddyment. Later Watt Avenue would get closed as well.

Eventually the fire covered 350 acres. No homes were ever endangered.

This area has a history of burning during fire season. A similar-sized fire also burned here in 2019.
