SMUD Sponsoring Electric Vehicle Test Drives

Test drive the latest electric vehicles and get a free ticket to the California State Fair

As part of its effort to increase clean mobility in the Sacramento region, SMUD is offering free test drives of plug-in electric vehicles at Arden Fair Mall.

The event will feature a variety of electric vehicles from manufacturers such as Tesla, BMW, Jaguar, Nissan, Chevrolet and Toyota—including models that can currently be leased for under $200 per month. Get behind the wheel and test drive one or more of the available models on SMUD’s test track.

Participants must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license to take a test drive. All ride-and-drive participants will receive a free entry ticket to the California State Fair at nearby Cal Expo. The California State Fair runs July 12 through July 28.

SMUD has been supporting electric vehicles for 30 years and has worked with major automakers and a wide variety of technology companies to help test and optimize EV equipment and demonstrate real-world effectiveness.

SMUD’s Charge Free for Two Years EV incentive offers a choice of $599 cash (enough for the average EV driver to charge at home for two years), or a free high-powered level 2 EV charger for SMUD customers who purchase or lease a new plug-in electric vehicle.

Additionally, SMUD’s special EV rate discount allows EV owners to save money when they charge their vehicles between midnight and 6 a.m. This allows owners to maximize their savings while mitigating the impact to SMUD’s electric grid for all customers.

SMUD’s commitment to sustainability and mobility will improve the air quality in the Sacramento region and increase access to its residents. More information about SMUD’s electric vehicle programs is available at smud.org/DriveElectric.
